Artvisory to sell Contents of Historic Western District Property Mawallok on behalf of Jocelyn Mitchell

Mawallok is a large pastoral holding in Victoria's Western Districts and was for a long the home of the well regarded Mitchell family. Peter Mitchell was something of an antiquities collector and he bought at London's top auctions in the field in the late 1970's and early 1980's, held by Christie's and Sotheby's. It is rare to get a good collection such as this sold in Australia with provenance and so this auction is likely to see some competitive bidding from Europe and America. The collection also features Australian art and European antiques and of note is a fine large 17th century Belgian tapestry in unusually good condition.Artvisory thanks Jocelyn Mitchell and her family for entrusting this collection to us for sale as a single-vendor auction, in which we specialise. The auction is on view Friday 19-Sunday 21 February 11am to 5pm at our South-Yarra galleries and the auction is Monday 22 February at 6.30pm and live online at invaluable.com
