We are honoured to present a collection of art and antiques from the private collection of Patricia Tryon Macdonald. Patricia or 'Patmac' as her legions of supporters fondly refer to her, is a much-loved and highly respected figure within the visual arts world of Australia. Her 20 year career at Christie's is well known, as is her more recent role as the curator of some extraordinary exhibitions at the National Gallery of Victoria, The National Museum of Australia and The Art Gallery of Ballarat.
What is certainly less well known, even to those who worked closely with her, is the story of her early life growing up in Britain. Never a self-promoter and more often the story-teller of others herself, the tables are turned somewhat here, as we tell a little of her early life, through some of the artworks and antiques she has surrounded herself with and the gracious homes in which she and some of them once resided.
